Netanyahu meets UAE and Bahrain ambassadors at a restaurant in Washington
Washington - The ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington during a visit last March, the Associated Press reported.
The Associated Press said in a report published on Saturday that Abu Dhabi's ambassador, Yusuf al-Otaiba, had learned of Netanyahu and his wife Sarah in a restaurant where al-Otaiba had been with a group of officials and journalists and invited them to join them.
According to the report, Netanyahu went to the table of the UAE ambassador, who also included Bahraini Ambassador Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, State Department official Brian Hawk and a number of journalists at the prestigious Cafi Milano restaurant in Georgetown, Washington.
The report pointed out that Netanyahu shook hands with Oteiba and Al Khalifa, and answered the questions of journalists, some of which focused on the Iranian file.
"There were smiles and smiles about the strangeness of the situation, Netanyahu shook hands with the two ambassadors before leaving the restaurant."
The Associated Press reported that the Israeli and UAE sides did not disclose this meeting, but they got the details from six people, some of whom attended the meeting and some of them were briefed on what happened.
It is noteworthy that in July 2017, the Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" revealed that Netanyahu secretly met with Ateiba and the UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the room of the Prime Minister's Hotel in New York in 2012.
Last Thursday, Bahrain's foreign minister, Khalid bin Ahmed, said any country had the right to defend itself, including Israel. "As long as Iran has violated the status quo in the region and countries have invaded its forces and missiles, any country in the region, including Israel, has the right to defend itself by destroying the sources of danger," he wrote on his Twitter account.
On the other hand, praised the Israeli Minister of Communications Ayoub Qara, the position of Bahrain in support of the missile bombardment of Iranian targets in Syria, describing it as "historical support."
