S-300 Delivery to Syria is still under way - Senior Official

MOSCOW - The supply of Russian S-300 air defense systems to Syria is still under discussion, as the delivery is still frozen from the Russian side, a senior Russian official said.

If Russia intends to offer these defense systems, the official refused to answer the question, refusing to talk about the terms of the deal between Russia and Syria.

In a speech to the Petersburg International Economic Forum, the director of Russia's state-run Russian company for the development of new technologies, Sergey Chimezov, answered the question of whether Russia is considering supplying Syria with such weapons.

The issue of delaying the arrival of the advanced S-300 air defense systems, after the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in Moscow on May 9, 2018 during the "Victory Parade" with his counterpart Vladimir Putin is a lie.

The function of the S-300 missile system is to protect military units, strategic locations, military bases, command centers and industrial facilities from ballistic missiles, wings, drones and strategic and tactical airliners used by the Israeli army to attack Syria.
