US expected to quit UN Human Rights Council

Talks with the United States over how to reform the main UN rights body have failed to meet Washington’s demands, activists and diplomats say, suggesting that the Trump administration will quit the Geneva forum whose session opens on Monday, wrote Reuters.

A US source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the withdrawal appeared to be “imminent” but had no details. Other diplomatic sources said it was not a question of if but of when the United States retreats from the Human Rights Council.

US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley publicly told the Council a year ago that Washington might leave the body unless a “chronic anti-Israel bias” were removed.

Since it was established in 2006, the 47-member forum has issued 78 resolutions against the crimes of the Zionist regime of Israel, which shows that Israel's actions are internationally condemned.

Last month, the forum voted to set up a probe into killings in Gaza and accused Israel of excessive use of force; the United States and Australia cast the only “no” votes.

During George Bush, Jr.s presidency, the US quit the forum for three years but rejoined it under Barrack Obama.

US Donald Trump, who has pulled the US out of some international agreements, including Paris climate pact, UNESCO and Iran nuclear deal, has made it clear that the US has no respect for international laws and agreements and collective wisdom. Trump has repeatedly threatened to cut his countries share in UN budget. 

To support the Zionists' criminals, Trump is making up a pretext to leave an international body in which Washington doesn't have the privilege of vetoing resolutions again Israel.
